The Studio

In 2008ish, we moved into this big brick house, with a little garage.

A few years later, we moved to the house next door. We rented the brick house out for a bit, but since then it's been vacant, and we've sort of been letting nature reclaim it.

So we decided to demolish it, and build a studio here. Meet Wood + Wire Studio!

I've wanted to build a studio space for years, and I'm so excited to have finished this project. The exterior build was done for us, and then my dad, my husband, and I built out the whole interior (with some help on the bathroom and ceiling from some contractor friends!) I’m using it to host special sessions, regular portraits, and lots of tiny babies, but it’s also open for rent to other photographers or just folks who need a nice little space.

It’s a nice open space, with two 10’ banks of windows that get lots of great light. The newborn bean bag poser usually goes in that corner on the right side. The main shooting space is 15’ x 17’, so there’s plenty of room to move around, and the mini split keeps the temperature perfect.

The bathroom is where all the color went. The gold woodland creatures on the wall were hand stenciled by me, it took about a bazillion years. The bathroom is just six inches short of being ADA compliant, but it does have the required space under the sink, grab bars, etc, so I did make as much of it up to spec as I could. If you need an accessible space and aren’t sure if it’ll meet your needs, get in touch!

We’ve got little amenities that make the space feel cozy, and that make it great for meetings! Newborn parents can drink a cup of coffee while it’s still hot! You can tour the space virtually, or drop me a line and I’ll show you around.
