Alicia & Pat's Ohio Engagement
Every once in a while, I go on adventures out of state for photos. This time I got to spend some time in Ohio, and meet Alicia and Pat, who are getting married later this month. They actually found me through a friend of theirs who I'd met a few years before at WMC Fest (I end up in Cleveland kind of a lot.) We bonded over Homestar Runner skits, ended up looking up how much goats cost (not that much, it turns out. Like, way less than a llama,) and got to spot a few baby geese hanging out at the park. We went to two different parks - Green Leaf in Copley, and Allardale in Medina, and I learned that my GPS doesn't say Medina right at all. It's always fun working with couples that can make each other laugh. Because I'm pretty bad at it (I tell extremely dumb jokes.)This is the highest peak in Ohio. Her dress necessitated some twirling, so we had a little dance break in the park."Do humans actually stand like this? Has a person ever spontaneously done this?" I honestly start a number of posing directions with "this is gonna feel dumb, but it looks good in photos, I promise." One of the weird effects of different focal lengths is that is makes people look farther apart than they are (and certainly more than they FEEL like they are.) So you really have to get up in each others' business for portraits. We all had basically the same reaction to seeing a parade of tiny baby geese. Which is, in my opinion, the correct reaction. Mama goose hissed at us a little bit on our way out.
