Josh & Stephanie's Waterfall Engagement Portraits

I remember David Hobby telling a story about a photo he took of an opera singer, in the shower (clothed, folks. It was a very PG photo.) He said that you don't start in the shower. You start with some easy, comfortable, familiar photos. You build a rapport. Maybe you break for lunch and tell them about your idea and how cool it'll turn out. After all of that, after your client trusts you to represent them well, and believes you have their best interests at heart, then you take a photo in the shower. Anyway, it works for waterfalls, too.Stephanie and Josh wanted to do their photos at Ohiopyle, because it's where they got engaged. They have favorite spots there, and a rock that they like to eat lunch on. It seems to be their happy place. Stephanie mentioned that they were thinking about maybe getting some photos over at Cucumber Falls and then maybe, maybe we'd even do some behind the falls. Okay. So we started with their fancy clothes up at Kentuck Knob, where they got engaged last year.Engagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkThis spot is extremely scenic, and extremely filled with gnats. These two did a great job of pretending not to notice them.Engagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkWe'd thought that since it had rained all weekend, and was supposed to rain all that day, the waterfall wouldn't be such a popular destination. There was a field trip's worth of wild boys throwing footballs and shouting Bangarang when we got down there. I might have imagined the Hook reference, but there were a bunch of them swimming in some pretty cold water. We waited them out.Engagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkWe wondered "how wet are we even really going to get back there?" The answer is very. Very wet. By the way, the Nikon D610 holds up to a waterfall, in case you were curious. Although I wish I'd managed to keep some small scrap of my shirt dry, since it does get pretty foggy back there.Engagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkIt's like a scene out of a romantic comedy, where they always end up kissing in the rain for some reason.Engagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State ParkEngagement Portraits at Ohiopyle State Park  Let's Bee Together
