Kids Birthday Photographer: Bird is Two
A very happy birthday to my little squish. His first year, I did a little mini portrait session with him every month, which got harder to do over time. Every month, he'd be a little bit more mobile, and once he started walking well... that was when we started doing portraits out in the yard, where he had more space to wander. This time, we expanded a little further, and walked across the bridge into town, to the post office, the library. We went on a little adventure. It doesn't seem right that he's been with us two years already, and at the same time it seems impossible that it's only been two years. He's fun, and funny, and his giggle slays me. It's actually a little bit difficult to get photos of him smiling, because he gets so focused when he's playing or exploring. He loves being around other kids. He's extremely independent already, but he still likes holding hands with me when he watches cartoons (but not when he's walking around in parking lots, seriously mama, you're embarrassing me in front of my friends already.) I love him to bits. He'd like to show you his rocks. He looks so much like his dad in some of these. It's amazing how different a person can look when you switch up the angle you're shooting from.Once we were good and tired from exploring the neighborhood, I did get a few shots of him playing in the house. I like to try to catch whatever he's into at the moment when I do portraits. Right now it's trains, rocks, and kitties. Oh, and climbing into baskets. It was like this when I got here. This is Elvis. We took a trip to the zoo, and Johnny found this stuffed tube shaped tiger in the gift shop and just wouldn't put it down. So I bought it for him, and John named him Elvis, and now we have to put Elvis to bed at night so that the dogs don't chew him up.This is Johnny's other favorite stuffed kitty, whom John has named Gary. John is great at naming things.Happy birthday, buddy.Click the milestones guide to get 5 tips for planning the perfect cake smash session!
