Beth & John's Wedding Brings Memphis to the Burgh
I got to meet regular Beth, and John, for their engagement shoot a few months ago. But for the wedding, I got to meet fancy Beth. Fancy Beth is just as nice as regular Beth, but with more serious eye makeup. John and Beth met when she was working for Hershey as a process engineer. Hershey is in PA, but most of her projects were at the Memphis plant (which, fun fact, is where IceBreakers, BreathSavers, and Good n Plenty licorice are made). Beth was going to Memphis every month for a few years, which happens to be where John was born and raised. They met through mutual friends, and shortly after, John moved from Memphis to Maryland for a job, and they started dating. John had to leave the country for work for 7 months, and proposed the instant he got home via an early Sunday morning scavenger hunt. One of the things Beth mentioned about my weddings is that they seem like they're real people, not just Pinteresty models, so in case you're in that same boat, I took this shot literal seconds after she told me that she's not photogenic.Beth's surprise gift to her husband-to-be was getting pulled pork delivered from his hometown, Memphis, to the hotel room where his crew was getting ready. If you've got photos of kids running around being adorable, you know I'm gonna get pictures of it.This was a "ooh, that looks good" face, not a "ooh, girl, no" face.I got to work with the super talented David McCandless as my second shooter on this one. Bravo, David. There's a lot of DIY elements to the day. Beth's mom, aunt, and cousin made all of the centerpieces. Her mom made all of the guys' boutonnieres, tailored John's suit, added cap sleeves to the dress, made belts for the bridesmaids, and it all came together beautifully. But PHEW, that is a ton of work! They both said that their first dance was the thing they were looking forward to most.A note on 'parent' dances at weddings. Dance with whoever you want, however you want. Dance with as many people as makes you happy.I'm really in love with this photo.Beth was also excited to see photos of her friends and family having a good time, and they absolutely had a great time. Y'all brought it.Okay, you caught me.You might think you love Toto's Africa. You don't love it ENOUGH. This is how you do it.Caterer: Stratwood CateringFlorist: Dried Flowers ForeverBaker: Oakmont Bakery (with an assist from some Giant Eagle sheet cakes)Accessories: Family jewelryDJ: BPM DeejaysMakeup and Hair: Unique Factor Hair Design
